O'Connor will stay around for Martin's Leinster clashes

- BY PAUL KEANE

FORMER AFL player Barry O'Connor will stick around with St Martin's for both of their Leinster club campaigns.

But it'll be back to Australia after that for the talented dual star - who joked that there are 'a lot of pieces and moving parts' to his life.

O'Connor is the former Wexford senior footballer - and son of county hurling legend George - who was snapped up by the Sydney Swans in 2019.

He spent three seasons with the club but his time was interrupted by the pandemic and he eventually left for a year with Greater Western Sydney Giants.

The 27-year-old has been playing for a local team in Sydney in 2024 and 2025, and working a regular day job in tech sales.

But he hasn't forgotten his Wexford roots and returned in each of the last two seasons to help St Martin's claim county SHC titles.

He also played a big part in the club's intermediate football title success this year, returning them to the senior ranks.

That has meant Leinster campaigns on two fronts and O'Connor is happy to stick around, firing 1-2 in last Sunday's landmark hurling win over Na Fianna.

"I'll stay until we're finished here," said the powerful and versatile forward.
