SUNSHINE TO LAST? STOP DELUGING YOURSELVES

Downpours on way - but it'll still be warm

AFTER two weeks of almost unbroken sunshine, there's a return to what normally passes for an Irish early summer with rain and thunderstorms on the way.

But it’s not all bad news as temperatures will be above average for this time of year and could reach 23C in some parts on Wednesday.

While the high pressure that has brought the good weather may be weakening there are indications that similar conditions will soon return and this pattern may be repeated throughout the summer because of changes to the jetstream.

But from today onwards there will be widespread showers and potential downpours with the outlook for early in the week being more of the same.
