IT'S looking like one of our best summers ever.

Ireland basked in sunshine all weekend, with the mercury hitting 30C and 31C in many places.

The weather broke with spots of torrential rain yesterday, but temperatures stayed mild and the sun came out again.

We were helped by spring 2025 being the warmest on record for Ireland, with highest average temperatures in 126 years of records.

Overall, it was the sunniest spring ever, with most stations recording highest levels of sunshine.

Meteorologists predict the rest of the summer looks set to stay warm throughout July and August, which are set to have “above average temperatures”.

It’s all because of what meteorologists call the Omega Block weather pattern.

For this summer it means “June, July, and August, has a strong signal for higher than average temperatures for Ireland during the summer months” according to Met Eireann.
