MAN HELD IN MURDER PROBE AS SHANE IS STABBED TO DEATH

POLICE in the North are investigating if an arson, an attack on a bus and a murder are connected.

A man in his 30s was arrested and was in custody last night being quizzed over the fatal stabbing of Shane Lowry in west Belfast.

Emergency services arrived in the Twinbrook area of the city on Thursday evening following the incidents which included the death of Mr Lowry.

LOCATIONS

They took place within a short time span in locations relatively close to one another in the city.

A flat off the Stewartstown Road was torched at around 7.30pm.

It was followed by an attack on a Glider vehicle, the city's rapid transit bus system, on the same road.

Reports of the attack on Mr Lowry in the Mulberry Park area of Dunmurry emerged at around 8.15pm.
