LOTTO players are being urged to check their tickets after one lucky punter struck gold in Saturday night's draw.

Despite the main Lotto jackpot went begging, one player who came agonisingly close to scooping the €4,903,396 jackpot after matching five of the six winning numbers plus the bonus.
Collecting a cheque for €174,706 is still a decent consolation for the player who bought their ticket on Friday from Jay’s Newsagents, 93 Rosemount Avenue, Artane, North Dublin.
