Ditching the entire CHI board right now won't help at all...

TAOISEACH Micheal Martin said ditching the Children's Health Ireland board following a damning report would "not help".

He again dismissed calls for a public inquiry into the use of unauthorised springs during spinal surgeries, arguing there was a "moral" question on whether could be better used.

An independent statutory review found devices were implanted into three youngsters and "children were not protected from the risk of harm".

REPORT

Liz McMahon and David Ryan, whose son Luke had an unapproved spring implanted in a spinal surgery in Temple Street Children's Hospital without their consent or knowledge, said it was a "complete breach of trust".
