'Child among 7 who starved to death amid famine fears'
Irish Daily Star
|July 31, 2025
ANOTHER seven more Palestinians have starved to death in Gaza amid fears famine is now sweeping through the war-battered Strip.
Officials said the seven died “due to famine and malnutrition,” one of them a child, raising the hunger-linked death toll to 154 since the war between Israel and Hamas began.
Among those who have starved to death, 90 are believed to have been children.
Israeli troops killed 22 Palestinians in Gaza since dawn yesterday and the death toll is continuing to shoot up with at least 60,138 dead, according to local officials.
And 146,269 are feared wounded in the violence, which was triggered by Hamas's killing spree in southern Israel on October 7, 2023.
Among those killed yesterday were 15 aid-seekers trying to reach distribution points for food and water dotted about Gaza.
Israel has continued to carry out daily strikes, causing the “worst-case scenario of famine,” according to an international authority on hunger crises.
Ceasefire talks stalled again last week.
Shifa Hospital in Gaza City said it received 12 people killed on Tuesday night when Israeli forces opened fire towards crowds awaiting aid trucks coming from the Zikim crossing in northern Gaza.
CORRIDOR
Thirteen others were killed in strikes in the urban Jabaliya refugee camp, and the northern towns of Beit Lahiya and Beit Hanoun.
