BOWNDER JON’ PATH TO GLORY
Irish Daily Star
|July 18, 2025
Tadej a place behind, but bounced back to form with an excellent second to Charles Darwin in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, where he was notably strong at the finish having been caught for toe mid-race, suggesting that a step up to 6f would see an even better performance.
BOWNDER was disappointing when having to help set the pace in a small field at Windsor last time, but showed what he could do when granted a solid pace with victory at Goodwood on his previous start, and he is expected to bounce back from his Windsor defeat in a more suitable race here.
Bownder has done most of his racing recently over 1¼m but ran to form when beaten less than half a length at Windsor (again) over the extended mile in May and a good gallop is more likely over the straight mile here than it would be around a turn.
It’s my belief that pace rather than trip is the key to Bownder and he should have this race set up for him.
