Maresca's heroes run riot in Poland and complete clean sweep of Euro trophies

- BY JOHN CROSS Chief Football Writer X@johncrossmirror

FOR so much of this match it was all about one of football's European greats.

That was until Cole Palmer stepped up to steal the show and write another chapter in Chelsea's glorious history.

Palmer set up Chelsea's first two goals with wonderful assists for Enzo Fernandez and then Nicolas Jackson as Chelsea completed a clean sweep of European trophies.

It turned the game completely on its head as the first half belonged to Real Betis captain Isco.

Real Madrid legend Isco, the five-time Champions League winner, ran the show and it looked as if Real Betis would enjoy a fairytale night and their first major European trophy here in Poland.

But it is in adversity when the great players step forward and Palmer took the game by the scruff of the neck after the break.

From 1-0 down at halftime, Chelsea overwhelmed Real Betis in the second half with even Jadon Sancho getting in on the act in what could be his last game for the club.
