A decent NAS will eliminate the need for cloud service subscriptions and their associated ongoing rising costs. Two-bay NAS units are entry-level and great for basic needs like photos, documents, music and video and best set up using RAID 1 for single-drive failure protection.

Four-bay NAS units offer greater capacity, advanced RAID such as RAID 5 for increased protection and performance, and are more suitable for anyone with large media libraries and for small business use.
