Survey finds average planned outlay down in 2025
Irish Daily Mirror
|November 25, 2025
A significant 48% of adults are looking to save money on essential items they have been waiting to purchase.
-
This trend is most pronounced among Millennials (aged 25-34), with 63% planning to buy essentials to secure savings.
Christmas shopping also plays a major role, with 44% of respondents planning to make a purchase to save money on gifts.
Gen Z (aged 18-24) are the most future-focused, with 52% planning to buy presents during the sales period.
While the overall average spend is down, there remains a cohort of high-spenders. One in four adults plan to spend between €50 and €100, and 20% plan to spend between €151 and €200.
Notably, 19% of the population plan to spend more than €250, a figure that jumps to 30% for Millennials.
However, not all consumers are convinced, with 34% of those who don't plan to make a purchase stating it is because they do not believe the price reductions are enticing enough.
