REFEREES NEED SOME ASSISTANTS
Irish Daily Mirror
|August 15, 2025
JOHN RUSSELL has called on referees to lean more on their assistants when they're making the big calls.
Sligo Rovers boss Russell is pleased the red cards shown to goalkeeper Sam Sargeant (inset) and centre-back Paddy McClean in the Bit O’Red’s last two League games were quickly overturned by the FAI's appeal body.
But he is convinced had McClean not been sent off then his team would have left Inchicore with at least a point against St Pat's last Sunday.
