Liverpool seal a record £125m deal for Isak but move for Guehi collapses as Palace pull plug

LIVERPOOL last night took their spending this summer to more than £450million as they landed Alexander Isak but missed out on Marc Guehi on a dramatic deadline day.

The Reds finally brokered a British record £125m deal to sign striker Isak from Newcastle. But despite a deal sheet being submitted with the Premier League, a £35m move for Crystal Palace centre-back Guehi collapsed at the 11th hour.

Palace pulled the plug on Guehi's move - despite the defender having a medical in London - after defensive target Igor Julio opted to join London rivals West Ham on loan from Brighton.
