Living plant gifts for under the tree

Make their Christmas with a merry and bright present to bring even more joy to the home
-
Christmas rushes past in a blur of parties and shopping. So, if there is a gap under the tree for a loved one, a living plant makes a lovely gift. Garden centres are full of houseplants in December, ready to brighten up homes.
POINSETTIA Nothing says Christmas like a poinsettia's bold bracts in red, cream, pink, or variegated. Choose a plant with coloured leaves and no bare patches. Wrap it for the journey home so it isn't shocked by the cold. Once indoors, keep it in a warm, bright room away from heat and draughts. Water when the compost feels dry. With steady conditions, it can keep its colour after the decorations come down.
