KIDNAP ALERT FOR OFFICERS AT MOUNTJOY

PRISON officers in Mountjoy have been advised to review their personal security after a kidnap threat was issued.
The warning was given by jail bosses after intelligence information received by gardai.
Staff were informed of the plot to take one of them hostage after a meeting on Tuesday two days before Christmas.
It is understood the kidnap plan had been hatched by senior criminals at the prison in response to a Mountjoy crackdown on illegal drone deliveries.
Senior management at the jail are refusing to let inmates out into the prison yard any time they learn of a possible drone delivery.
