Plastering tip helps couple cut costs by €80k
SITE VISIT Harrison has a look around
RTE'S extreme DIY show Build Your Own Home has returned, with the second episode of this series revealing how to cut costs by €80,000.
The show follows the trials and tribulations of homeowners across Ireland with six instalments recording the mammoth challenges they have faced.
In episode two tonight, viewers see couple Joan Lennon and Andrea Kowarschick enlist the help of family and friends to cut costs in Co Cavan.
Joan said: "The big savings were with plastering with hot lime and hemp (€25,000), building our own kitchen, using secondhand windows (€5,000 to €7,000), using heat panels for the heating (€20,000), and, of course, our own labour.
