PARENTS are being warned about the potential fines or penalty points they can get while on the school run.

THE school run is back in full swing as parents are once again accustomed to the routine of getting their children into classrooms.

While some are able to do so either on foot or by bicycle, the vast majority still have to use their cars.

However, parents are now being warned to be wary of the traffic violations that could land them with a fine when on the school run.

In a new study, leading car insurance group, Quote Devil, reveals the mistakes that could leave drivers with fines, penalty points, or even court dates.

They reveal how Irish drivers risk fines of up to €320 and five penalty points for failing to stop for school wardens.

Parking in a dangerous position outside schools could see parents fined up to €160 and hit with five penalty points.

Children not adhering to seat belt rules could see fines of up to €240 for the drivers.

A failure to yield by not giving way at junctions or pedestrian crossings, particularly near schools, can result in a fine of €160 and four penalty points.
