Concern over tricolours 'flown to incite hatred'
Irish Daily Mirror
|September 02, 2025
RESIDENTS in various areas across the capital are concerned that tricolour flags on lamp posts are inciting hatred against immigrants.
Dublin City Council said it is considering how it will respond to the flags. The erection of flags on public lamp posts is not allowed without written permission from the council's Public Lighting Services.
However, no specific rules exist about flying the national flag in the capital, and it's often done during sporting events.
Flags have appeared on the streets in areas such as Coolock, Finglas and Ballyfermot.
Councillors and residents have expressed concern with Dublin City Council over the flags.
