FOR me, there is no need to sugarcoat it. The Department of Justice’s hurriedly arranged private interview with Ghislaine Maxwell isn’t about justice, it's about protecting Donald Trump.

- CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN

As the public demands the release of the full Jeffrey Epstein files, the President’s - sorry, the government’s lawyers seem to be playing backroom games with the woman convicted of helping traffic underage girls for Jeffrey Epstein. Instead of opening up the investigation for public scrutiny, they appear to be shutting it down behind closed doors, and all signs point to Trump being the reason.

Maxwell's interview was not a routine legal process. It appeared to me an obstruction of truth.

The involvement of Todd Blanche, Trump's former criminal defence lawyer who is now serving as the Deputy Attorney General, should raise every alarm.

What is he doing interviewing Maxwell, a woman with years of firsthand knowledge about Epstein’s powerful friends, including Trump and their time in the sex offender’s company?

What interest does he have in her version of events? To me the answer seems obvious: damage control.
