Who will get the nod for Ashes first Test against Australia?

England take on Australia in a three-match Ashes series this autumn, with the first Test taking place at Wembley on Saturday.

But who will take the field and represent a nation desperate for a first victory over the Green and Golds since 1995 - or 2006 in the GB format?

With that in mind, our All Out Rugby League team have named the side they would select if they were Shaun Wane, with the England head coach set for some key decisions.

Dan Tomlinson

First things first, put your club allegiances to one side. This isn’t about petty battles between Super League clubs. It's about England. And England giving it the best they've got.

So with that in mind, I've gone for Mikey Lewis and Jez Litten. Two of the best players throughout 2025, they deserve their shot, and they've shown, most recently in the Grand Final, that they can do it in big games. Lewis is a superstar - make no mistake about it - and Litten has been on the rise for years. He’s dynamic, tough, and full of speed - and speed is what England need.

At fullback, I've gone for Jack Welsby, with the two wingers being Joe Burgess and Dom Young. At centre, Herbie Farnworth is one of the world’s best, and I'd go with Jake Wardle as the other pick, with George Williams to partner Lewis in the halves.
