There are few greater satisfactions in sport than proving the doubters wrong. Just ask Wakefield Trinity forward Matty Storton.

The 26-year-old played his part in Trinity's surge to Super League's top six last season, a feat many pundits and fans alike didn’t think was possible.

But that write-off served as motivation and, if anything, fuelled the fire.

After a year in the Championship, Wakefield may have been a newly promoted outfit, but they were fearless and after flirting with the playoff positions all year, they secured their spot for good in the final round.

However, despite a side, and a club for that matter, all steering in the right direction, former Hull KR star Storton believes the same thing will happen this year, and Wakefield, externally at least, won't be backed for much.

However, internally is a different story, and Trinity, led by head coach Daryl Powell, are pushing for more.

“I think we're still underrated,” Storton, speaking to All Out Rugby League, said.

“I don’t think many people will have us finishing in the top six again next year. They'll put us outside it and we'll use that as motivation again.
