Trial of ex-RPF cop who killed 4 on train starts

A Mumbai court on Monday commenced the trial of Chetansinh Chaudhary-the Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable who shot dead his senior and three passengers with his service rifle in a moving train while on duty on July 31, 2023-with the deposition of first witness and former colleague Amey Acharya.

Acharya, 27, the complainant in the case, was also Chaudhary's colleague in the RPF. He was dismissed from service in March this year for "failure to discharge (his) duty of providing safety and security to passengers" as he was hiding in the washroom while Choudhury killed Meena and three passengers Kadar Bhanpurwala, Syed Saifuddin and Asghar Abbas Shaikh-while on duty on a Jaipur-Mumbai train last July.
