India's interest in bidding for the Olympic Games in 2036, conveyed publicly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of the 141st IOC Session in Mumbai, is a significant moment in the country's Olympic sports movement. There are several steps and a long way to go between a bid interest and a potential bid victory. Yet, India throwing its hat into the ring - also for the Youth Olympic Games preceding that, pertinently — points to the country's growing economic prowess and presents an ideal opportunity to upgrade its sporting ecosystem, more specifically infrastructure.
