Gurugram grinds to a halt on day 3 of violence
Hindustan Times

The streets of Gurugram, the IT and corporate centre of the National Capital Region, wore a deserted look on Wednesday, two days after communal violence broke out in Nuh and spread to the rest of Haryana.
Clashes had broken out in Nuh on Monday afternoon after a procession led by Hindu groups passing through the district was attacked. The violence spread to neighbouring Sohna and by the next day, to Gurugrama man was killed and a mosque was torched in Sector 57, and shops were vandalised and burnt in Badshahpur and sectors 67 and 70- even as the Haryana government imposed prohibitory orders under section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in the affected districts.
On Wednesday, the main corporate hubs of Gurugram such as Cyber Hub, Udyog Vihar, Golf Course Road, and Sohna Road, along with business centres on NH-48, saw thin attendance as most offices gave their employees the option to work from home.
Vineet Taing, president of the Vatika Business Centre, which operates nine business centres in the city, said people living and/or working in the city were wary due to the incidents of violence in the city.
"Around half of the people working at our centres preferred to work from home on Wednesday. Those commuting from Delhi, who travel by the Metro, travelled to office, but those using their cars stayed at home, even if they lived closer," he said.
