Ggm Metro seeks waterlogging data to design stations

Hindustan Times

April 07, 2025

The Gurugram Metro Rail Ltd (GMRL) has sought information on waterlogging and rainfall from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and the district hydrology department to plan elevation and design of metro stations accordingly, GMDA officials said.

- Abhishek Behl

The metro authorities have sought waterlogging data for 27 locations and on eight major roads, which fall on the metro alignment. They have sought the data from the agencies within the next 15 days.

Waterlogging has been a major issue in Gurugram for the last one decade as increasing urbanisation and construction of a network of highways within the city has led to blocking of natural drains and channels.

Several ponds, which earlier helped in management of stormwater have also been concretised, which lead to waterlogging.
