Kidnapped child rescued, 6 held after encounter

The Budaun police arrested six people, including three women, for kidnapping a 1.5-year-old girl on March 6, 2025.
MEERUT: The three male kidnappers were apprehended during a late-night encounter on Sunday, while three women were arrested based on information provided by the male accused, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Brijesh Kumar Singh on Monday.
The women were allegedly hiding the child at different locations in the city.
According to police, two of the three male kidnappers sustained bullet injuries in their legs during the exchange of fire and were admitted to the district hospital. Among those arrested, one is the son of a village head. The police recovered two motorcycles, country-made pistols, and cartridges from the accused.
