Shravani Mela begins amid elaborate prep

The month-long Shravani Mela, one of the largest religious congregations in the country’s eastern region, was inaugurated in Deoghar district on Thursday with traditional rituals at Kanwariyapath in Dumma, bordering Bihar.
State tourism minister Sudivya Kumar, rural development minister Dipika Pandey Singh, and labour minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav attended the inaugural event.
The fair is organised during the’Shravan’ month, which falls from July ll to August 9 this year. With the inauguration of the fair, Kanwariyas will start thronging the revered Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deoghar from Friday after lifting holy water following a dip in the Ganga at Sultanganj in Bihar.
