No phones tapped, Oppn raising baseless issues
Hindustan Times Ranchi
|February 10, 2025
On Friday, another phone-tapping controversy rocked Rajasthan when a video of Cabinet minister Kirodi Lal Meena accusing his own Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government of snooping on him and tapping his phone for raising issues of corruption and criticising the government for not clamping down on such cases went viral.
Meena has been at loggerhead with the state BJP government for the last one year. The tribal stalwart of the state had also offered his resignation from his ministerial post in June 5, 2024, a day after the result of the Lok Sabha election was out revealing a poor performance of his party in Eastern Rajasthan.
In an interview with Suresh Foujdar, state home minister Jawahar Singh Bedham talks about the crisis and clarifies the allegations levelled by his colleague.
Meena has alleged that his government is involved in phone tapping. How do you view this?
I believe he was referring to the previous Congress government when his phone was tapped, but he refused to make any comment. I have no idea about the video and what he said in it. Meena had only levelled allegations against the previous Congress rule and criticised the phone-tapping incident happened then. The Opposition is now making it a baseless issue.
Was his phone tapped? Why didn't CM Bhajan Lal Sharma respond to the matter despite the Opposition's constant demand?
