NHAI's cost of toll collection down 56% to ₹2,674 cr in FY25

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), on Thursday said the cost of toll collection at public-funded toll plazas has been reduced by ₹2,062 crore in the last financial year, marking a 56% drop compared to the previous year.
The cost of toll collection fell from ₹4,736 crore in FY 2023-24 to ₹2,674 crore in FY 2024-25. In percentage terms, the share of toll collection expenses declined from 17.27% to 9.27% of total toll revenue of the respective years.
During FY 2024-25, tolling agencies collected about ₹28,823 crore, of which ₹26,149 crore was remitted to NHAI. In contrast, of the ₹27,417 crore collected, only ₹22,681 crore reached NHAI in FY 2023-2024, the agency said in a statement.
