RANCHI: Jharkhand health minister Irfan Ansari on Thursday announced plans to introduce robotic surgery in the state while responding to a budget discussion on the health, medical education, and family welfare department in the assembly.
"We are going to bring AI technology to the state. We will provide robotic surgery facilities—first in medical colleges and gradually in other places. A seminar will be organised for this. Chief minister Hemant Soren, along with doctors, will be invited. Once robotic surgery is introduced, operations will be more precise and comfortable. It will be helpful for knee surgeries. Talks have been held with three companies," Ansari said.
Sharing plans to develop the state's health infrastructure, Ansari said, "The number of general beds at RIMS will be increased from 2,200 to 3,500, while the number of super-speciality beds will rise from 200 to 950. A new OPD complex with a capacity for 5,000 patients, equipped with all pathological and radiological examination facilities, will be constructed. Additionally, a 14-floor hostel for PG and UG students and new flats for doctors will also be built."
