Jamshedpur: Illegal riverfront structures to be demolished

The Courts of Jamshedpur and Mango circle officers (COs) have passed final orders for demolition of 56 structures on encroached government land within 15 metres from Subarnarekha river under the Jharkhand Public Land Encroachment Act (JPLE) following National Green Tribunal (NGT) order to that effect in January 2024, people familiar with the matter said on Tuesday.
JAMSHEDPUR:
"My court has completed hearing on about 40 cases under JPLE Act out of a total 150 cases of illegal structures on encroached government land within 15 metres from the Subarnarekha riverfront. Final notices have been served to owners of these 40 structures and the process of hearing is ongoing in rest 110 cases," Manoj Kumar, Jamshedpur circle officer (CO), told HT on Tuesday.
Similarly, Mango CO's court has passed final orders against 16 such illegal structures on encroached government within 15 metres from the riverfront.
