Ex-Bihar MP Sues State BJP Leader For Defamation

Former MP from Gopalganj in Bihar, Sadhu Yadav, has slapped a ₹5 crore defamation notice against Ranchi-based author Mrityunjay Sharma for the allegations made against him in the book titled Broken Promises and in subsequent promotional podcasts, people aware of the development said on Saturday.

Sharma, who is also an office-bearer of the Jharkhand unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), authored Broken Promises: Caste, Crime and Politics, which documents the socio-political and economic churning in Bihar post-Independence, including the 15-year Lalu-Rabri regime from 1990 to 2005.
