In a move to address water scarcity in Jhunjhunu, Churu, and Sikar districts of Rajasthan, the governments of Haryana and Rajasthan will jointly prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) between July and October 2025.
JAIPUR:
The DPR will focus on transferring 577 MCB of Yamuna water through underground pipelines after Haryana fully utilizes the Western Yamuna Canal's 24,000 cusec capacity, including Delhi's share at Hathikund. With technical support from the Central Water Commission (CWC) and the Upper Yamuna River Board (UYRB), both states have formed a Task Force to ensure the report's timely completion within four months.
This initiative is a major step toward securing sustainable drinking and irrigation water supply for Rajasthan's water-stressed regions.
