Conversations about a US-UK economic partnership, an idea previously backed by Trump, are expected to continue in the days and weeks ahead, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer seeking to reduce or remove the 10% tariff levied by the US on UK goods.

Still, in discussions that took place between US and UK government officials Thursday, it remained unclear whether better terms for Britain were possible. At Trump's announcement in the White House's Rose Garden on Wednesday, the 10% levy was described by the US as a baseline, with no country given a lower rate.
