Govt shunts education dept official days after textbook controversy

The senior assistant director of the Rajasthan Secondary Education Board has been put on APO (Awaiting Posting Orders) on Friday after a controversy erupted in the state over two history books in Class XI and XII that ‘glorified Gandhi family’.
An order issued by the board, the secretary Kailash Chandra Sharma wrote, “Dinesh Ojha, the senior assistant directorate of the Rajasthan Secondary Education Board is hereby putting on APO in an immediate effect while he will continue to report at the Secondary Education Directorate in Bikaner till the further order.”
The move came days after the government scrapped two history books on Thursday after the education minister Madan Dilawar alleged that the books “glorified the Gandhi family and overlooked the contribution of several leaders from different parties including that of th Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
