BJP leader who 'purified' temple after Dalit LoP's visit suspended

The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) former three-time legislative member, Gyan Dev Ahuja, was suspended from the party on Tuesday after he allegedly "purified" a Ram temple at Ramgarh in Alwar with Ganga water on Monday after Opposition Congress leader Tikaram Jully, a Dalit, participated in its consecration ceremony.
JAIPUR:
Meanwhile, the Congress workers staged protests across the state.
Issuing an order, the BJP state general secretary and MP Damodar Agrawal said, "You (Ahuja) took an oath while taking the membership of the BJP that you neither believe in untouchability nor in any discrimination based on caste or religion. But you have sprinkled gangajal at a Ram temple in Alwar after the Leader of Opposition of the Rajasthan assembly visited the place. Your action has spoiled the party's image and it is considered to be a violation of the party's discipline."
