100 Million Trees Will Be Planted This Year: Sharma

The state government has set a target to plant 500 million trees under the Hariyalo Rajasthan initiative and 100 million trees will be planted this year, chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said on Friday while launching the "Digi-Forest Stack" app aimed to bring transparency in the operation of forest department.

"In our culture, trees, nature, and mountains are worshipped, and Rajasthan has a long history of environmental conservation," Sharma said while addressing the state-level event organised on the occasion of International Day of Forests on Friday. He urged everyone to take a pledge to save forests, preserve biodiversity, and create a green and healthy Rajasthan for future generations.
The CM said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as a global leader in efforts related to forests, environment, and climate balance. During COP26 held in Glasgow, Modi presented five commitments, known as the "Five Amrit Elements," to tackle climate change, which included forests as one of the key areas.
