Stalin Intensifies Attack on Pradhan Over NEP

Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday told Parliament that the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu refused to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) for "politics", prompting a strong reaction from the party's president and chief minister MK Stalin, who accused the former of "arrogance" and asked him to "control his tongue."

NEW DELHI: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday told Parliament that the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in Tamil Nadu refused to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) for "politics," prompting a strong reaction from the party's president and chief minister MK Stalin, who accused the former of "arrogance" and asked him to "control his tongue."

During his reply in Parliament on the central funds for the PM Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme, Pradhan called the Stalin government "dishonest," evoking protests from the DMK MPs, who raised slogans and disrupted proceedings of the House, resulting in its adjournment.

"They are dishonest and ruining the future of the students of Tamil Nadu... They are misleading the people... They are doing politics," Pradhan said in a sharp attack on the Stalin-led DMK government amid its stiff opposition to implementation of the three-language policy under the NEP.
