Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar announced on Friday evening that the controversial ₹300-crore land deal in Pune involving his son Parth was scrapped, hours after police registered a second FIR in the same case against the latter’s business partner and others for alleged forgery, cheating, and illegal land transfer.
Amid mounting political criticism, Ajit Pawar said his son had decided to cancel the transaction and submit affidavits to that effect. “Parth and his business partner were not aware that the land belonged to the government. The registration has been cancelled, and no payment has been made,” the deputy CM said after meeting chief minister Devendra Fadnavis earlier in the day.
