Weather condition warnings to be block specific: Met department

The Met department will issue more precise, block-specific warning of weather conditions as part of its "nowcasting" forecast, valid for three hours, said its director Ashish Kumar during a sensitisation workshop organised by the India meteorological department (IMD) on world meteorological day, in Patna on Tuesday.

"The Met has so far been issuing district-specific warnings about thunderstorms, heavy rainfall and strong wind. Such nowcasting warnings will now be block-specific," said Kumar.
