NDA, Oppn hail court’s decision as their victory

The Supreme Court decision to allow the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar to continue has sparked reactions from various political quarters, with the ruling alliance seeing it as a validation of their stance whereas the opposition Mahagathbhandan seeing it as their victory after the SC observed that Aadhaar card, voter ID and ration cards could be considered during the SIR in Bihar.

Welcoming the SC decision, Bihar deputy CM Vijay Sinha criticised the opposition for claiming to have faith in the constitution while allegedly insulting constitutional institutions.

“We welcome the decision of the honourable court, we have faith in it. On the one hand, they (opposition) claim to have faith in the constitution; on the other hand, they insult constitutional institutions... Why do they insult constitutional institutions? This is very unfortunate,” said Sinha.

“For the politics of appeasement, Congress and RJD people, who allowed illegal entry of Bangladeshis in Bihar, now want to nurture them. Where did the Election Commission say that Indian citizens will have to provide documents? ..These 15-20% people who have entered Bihar illegally have tarnished Bihar and created an atmosphere of anarchy. Congress-RJD is standing in their favour. This is unfortunate. The EC is doing its work with complete transparency,” he said.
