Budget: Hollow, says Opp; govt says it's booster

The Bihar budget for 2025-2026, presented in the Legislative Assembly by the deputy chief minister-cum finance minister Samrat Chaudhary, came in for criticism from the opposition, with the RJD terming it a hollow budget, even as the BJP and the JD(U), the coalition partners of the ruling NDA, and the Bihar Chamber of Commerce and Industries praising it.

"The budget has kept in mind every segment of the people, including farmers, industrialists, youth and the women. This year's budget of ₹3,17,000 crore reflects the state's growth at 14.5%," said chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Kumar said the government's efforts to improve connectivity by widening roads and generating employment for the youth would continue. He said special provision had been made in the budget to fuel development in the health, education and agriculture sectors. The budget, Kumar said, had strengthened his government's resolve of development with justice.
