Bhagalpur, Kosi and Seemanchal hospitals ready to handle likely HMPV spread

After the detection of at least eight cases of HMPV (Human Metapneumovirus) across India since January 7, the health department has urged people to follow the same guidelines that were issued during the Covid-19 pandemic, officials said.

In Bihar's Banka district, doctors on Wednesday urged people to take precautionary measures such as wearing masks and using sanitisers. During a meeting chaired by the deputy superintendent of the district, Dr. Lakshman Pandit stressed the importance of these measures, highlighting that HMPV tends to be active during the winter season and poses a risk to children from infancy to 15 years of age.

He also directed the hospital superintendent to arrange additional beds and ensure an adequate supply of medicines to address any potential situation.
