Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched the election campaign for the Grand Alliance (GA) on Wednesday from Muzaffarpur in Bihar along with the bloc’s chief ministerial candidate and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and others.
Gandhi criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of stooping to theatrical lows for electoral gains. “Narendra Modi is ready to enact any drama for votes,” Gandhi said, as he recounted a purportedly aborted plan for the PM to “take a holy dip in the Yamuna for Chhath Puja—only to discover it was a staged puddle of piped clean water, since the real river isa toxic mess.”
He added: “Tell him ata rally, ‘Mr. Prime Minister, we'll vote for you if you dance,’ and he'll break into the act without a second thought.”
