Cops Failing to Act Against Illegal Hookah Parlours to Be Suspended

The Maharashtra government has declared to make the existing law for the hookah parlours — Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition of Advertisement and Regulation of Trade and Commerce, Production, Supply and Distribution) Act (COTPA) — more stringent.
MUMBAI:
Repeat offenders will not only lose their license permanently but will have to go to jail, CM Devendra Fadnavis announced in the state assembly on Tuesday, adding that the concerned police officer under whose jurisdiction illegal hookah parlours are functioning will also be suspended for dereliction of duty.
