2006 Nanded blast case: Court acquits 9 accused

The Nanded sessions court has acquitted all nine accused in the 2006 Nanded blast case in view of the prosecution's failure to prove how and from where the material was acquired by the nine men to prepare the pipe bomb.

MUMBAI: The Nanded sessions court has acquitted all nine accused in the 2006 Nanded blast case, due to the prosecution's failure to prove how and from where the material was acquired by the nine men to prepare the pipe bomb.

The CBI had named 10 persons in the case as accused. It was claimed that these men had links with certain Hindu extremist organizations and were responsible for the blast at the residence of Laxman Gundayya Rajkondawar, which killed two and injured four.

Additional sessions judge Chandrashekhar V Marathe observed that the prosecution had not tendered any documents to establish that the organizations were notified as "Terrorist Organisation" by the central government at the relevant time.
