'No KYV for private cars post FASTag activation'

the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) verification for new private cars will no longer be required once FASTag activation is completed, in a move aimed at reducing compliance burdens for motorists and preventing post-purchase harassment by banks, a senior official from the ministry of road transport and highways said.

Under the revised system, all ownership and identity verification must be completed before FASTag activation, after which banks will not be permitted to seek additional documents or initiate KYV checks, the official told HT.
