|October 30, 2025
Describing the crash of a Boeing 787 in June as “absolutely devastating,” Air India chief executive officer (CEO) Campbell Wilson on Wednesday said the airline continues to support affected families and staff while cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
At an Aviation event in Delhi ‘on Wednesday, he also acknowledged that the Tata Group airline has been facing a difficult year marked by airspace closures, supply-chain delays, and regional instability.
Airspace closures, including that of Pakistan after the Pehalgam terror attack in April and Operation Sindoor, India’s subsequent military action against terrorist infrastructure in May, is expected to cost Air India around ₹4,000 crore in the current financial year as the airline has to use longer routes for its long haul and ultra long haul international operations, he said.
