Two unidentified men, posing as air conditioner servicemen, slit the throat of the wife of a senior government official and looted her gold jewellery before fleeing the scene in Lucknow’s Indiranagar area, under the Ghazipur police station limits, on Wednesday.
The victim, Shashi Pandey, sustained grievous injuries after being attacked with a sharp weapon and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
ACP, Ghazipur, Anindya Vikram Singh, said an FIR has been registered under relevant sections against the unidentified assailants and efforts are on to identify and arrest them. “CCTV footage is being scanned,” he added.
According to the Ghazipur police, the incident took place around 4:30 pm at the residence of Harish Pandey, an undersecretary in the department of science and technology.
