Pakistani nationals living on short-term visas have been sent back by several states while efforts to identify and deport such individuals were intensified by authorities in some states as the exit deadline for short-term visa holders of the neighboring nation ended on Sunday, officials said.
NEW DELHI:
In Maharashtra, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said all Pakistanis have been accounted for. "Arrangements have been made to deport them all, and there will be no Pakistani citizens left in the state. Everyone will be sent back by this evening or tomorrow," he told reporters.
Around 5,050 Pakistanis have been living in Maharashtra, most of them holding long-term visas, officials said.
In Bihar, the government said that all 19 Pakistani nationals staying in the state with short-term visas have left the country ahead of the April 27 deadline.
